Time Out says

The ancient Egyptians didn't need no stinkin' Internet to make cats a cultural trope: The animals were believed to have been first domesticated in the Land of the Pharaohs, and they were represented almost everywhere and in practically every speciation, from votive renderings of Abyssinian kitties in private homes to the lion-bodied Sphinx on the Giza Plateau. The Brooklyn Museum has rummaged through its superlative Egyptian holdings for this long-term installation.
