Yves Klein, Peinture De Feu Sans Titre (F 5), circa 1961
Skarstedt inaugurates its Chelsea location with a selection of abstract paintings by Klein and Warhol—created, respectively, with fire and urine. Klein used a blowtorch to burn patterns on paper, forming overall compositions, while Warhol peed on a canvas painted with copper-infused pigments, resulting in gestural trails of patination meant to send up Abstract Expressionism.
