Beer lovers belly up to the bar to munch on piping-hot popcorn and sample coast-to-coast suds at this former nail salon. Twenty-four draft beers—including Maine’s lemon-slice–topped Allagash White and California’s Arrogant Bastard Ale—are poured alongside nearly three-dozen bottled beers and vintage Scotches and bourbons. Chitchatty locals sit at low tables to tipple during the daily 4 to 8pm happy hour, when the drinks are two-for-one.

This is my go-to in the Park Slope area. It's not only super local, charming, friendly, and offers free popcorn, but it also includes a garden! I don't think a lot of people know about the place either (or maybe it just appeals to the more refined beer drinker), because it never seems full. There's always a seat inside or outside. Their specialty is higher end beers, including Belgian beers, micro-brews, local brews, and other imports. I go for the Belgian selection, which is thorough. They really care about their beer, and the menu has tons of information about alcohol content, description, hops level, etc.
