Shunning by-the-books trendiness, Tandem is an original: Sister owners Jane and Cathy Virga either sourced or crafted nearly every piece of the interior, and the quirky drinks are just as special. The herbaceous Masten Lake is a highlight of the seasonal cocktail list, combining gin, seltzer, lemon and basil plucked from the rooftop garden. The mostly local drafts, meanwhile, are siphoned into homemade ceramic pint glasses. Tandem’s many charms have drawn in the ’hood’s ultrahip, who take to the rear dance floor on Fridays and Saturdays. We might join them too.

My friends and I recently visited Tandem for brunch, and we were blown away by the whole experience. The 6 of us all ordered different dishes, and everything we had was excellent. Also, I had two of the best cocktails I've ever had in New York for a fraction of the price that I've paid at other bars. The staff was very attentive, friendly, and knowledgable. The atmosphere was hip, and the crowd was attractive twenty and thirty somethings. It's the perfect bar. I can't recommend this place highly enough! TL;DR - Perfect bar, excellent food
