Happy young singles and parents with dogs and babies converge to watch the sun set over the Hudson River. The place is full of joyful outdoor noise when it opens in late spring. You could order from the extensive American menu, but you know you want something from the grill.

This place is great for a chilled out lunch or drink in the evening. It’s also pretty quirky being right on the Hudson and in the middle of the roundabout! The atmosphere is really chilled out and accommodating to everyone. There’s often people with their dogs there or people meeting after evening runs or bikes. Plenty of space so if you do have a bike, you’ll find somewhere to park it. I’m also slightly in love the frozen Pina Coladas. Drinks are reasonably priced too, so expect to be drinking by the pitcher on sunny days!
Boat basin is a great Sunday afternoon outdoor drinking spot. Get here early if you want to grab a table outside!
Yes, the bar at The Boat Basin if often crowded, but it's also one of the best spots to catch a summer sunset over the Hudson. There are plenty of beers on tap, local brews included, and the prices won’t break the bank. Perhaps the best and most accommodating feature of the bar is that it's dog friendly, so feel free to bring your four legged friends along for happy hour or a weekend afternoon of day drinking. It’s a bit of a hike all the way to the Upper West on 79th Street for anyone residing south of Midtown but the river view will prove to be worth the trek.
