Dope; opens in theaters

Now in its seventh year, Northside is a weeklong Williamsburg-centered festival featuring concerts, film screenings and talks. This year's fest features Run the Jewels, Neko Case, Built to Spill, Lower Dens and more!

WOW: Women of the World Festival; Apollo Theater, Harlem, 12pm. free–$38.
Do ladies run this? Hell yeah. Founded in 2011 at London’s Southbank Centre, the Apollo brings WOW’s represents female power with a series of talks, film, debates and performances featuring such notables as Grammy-winning singer Macy Gray, best-selling author Naomi Wolf and Nobel Peace Prize winner Leymah Gbowee.

Fox trot over to Governors Island for this 1920s-themed outdoor shindig, featuring Michael Arenella & His Dreamland Orchestra and all manner of costumed revelers.

To drink or not to drink—is that even a question? Boozing and Bardolatry come together in New York Shakespeare Exchange's pub crawl through four East Side establishments, where plainclothes actors spit verses from Romeo and Juliet, As You Like It and Love's Labour's Lost.

Pit masters from across the country, from Wayne Mueller of Texas’s legendary Louie Mueller Barbecue to local 'cue heroes like Hometown Bar-B-Que’s Billy Durney and Hill Country's Charles Grund Jr., will smoke out Madison Square Park for this 13th annual BBQ bash.

Blkmarket Membership: 9 Year Anniversary Part II Boat PartyCircle Line Sightseeing Cruises, Pier 83, 4pm. $50.

The most whimsical fight in history is back. The annual game is based on Dr. Suess's The Butter Battle Book, and this year's theme is "boat party." So bring your swimsuit and bubble makers!

Alan Cumming: Alan Cumming Sings Sappy Songs; Café Carlyle (in the Carlyle Hotel), Lenox Hill, 8:45pm. $100-$165 plus $75 minimum.
The bright-eyed, bouncy-kneed Scottish stage-and-screen actor plays fast and louche with the cabaret format, sprinkling naughty words into long comic stories and putting a completely fresh interpretive spin on familiar songs.

Aaron DiehlGinny's Supper Club, Harlem, 7:30pm. $20–$25.
Diehl, a strikingly elegant pianist and formidably assured bandleader, celebrates a new release with help from special guests including his mentor Wynton Marsalis.

The Qualms; Playwrights Horizons, Hell's Kitchen, 8pm. $75–$95.
Swingers—as in spouse-swapping, polyamorous free-lovin' types—don’t get enough exposure (ahem) in theater. So playwright Bruce Norris (Clybourne Park) has written a play about them. We expect him to make us laugh and squirm as he usually does.

All Day I Dream; The Well, Williamsburg, 2pm. $TBA, advance $35.
It's back! Roving summer-party series All Day I Dream comes courtesy of London house masters Lee Burridge and Matthew Dekay, but originated on a Brooklyn rooftop, where it now returns.

ASSSSCAT 3000; Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre, Chelsea, 7:30pm and 9:30pm. $10.
The show that made UCB famous, the theater's best improvisers and special guests from comedy monoliths (like SNL, 30 Rock) team up to create a show that is completely different every time.

Run the Jewels—the team-up of Definitive Jux hero El-P and bearish, quick-witted Atlanta MC Killer Mike—is a little slice of North-South hip-hop heaven, if you ask us.

A Gay Show for All PeopleThe Duplex, West Village, 9:30pm. $12, advance $8, plus two-drink minimum.
Aaron Jackson and Josh Sharp host this variety show featuring an amazing array of LGBT musicians and comedians. This edition features John Early and Emma Willmann.
