Amazon is now offering one-hour alcohol delivery in Manhattan

New York is the unofficial mothership for up-and-coming drinking apps, with no shortage of mobile tech geared to provide every boozy service from at-home drink recipes to price-slashed happy hours and of course, on-demand alcohol. But now a major player is entering the competition in the latter category. Amazon launched a speedy delivery service this week through its Prime Now program that guarantees booze to your door in one hour.

Just in time for the holiday season—and all the party-planning procrastinators—the service is now being offered in Manhattan and Seattle. The one-hour delivery costs an additional $8, whereas a two-hour option comes at no extra cost to Prime users.

While existing apps like Minibar and Drizly guarantee delivery in comparable times (one hour and 40 minutes, respectively), it'll be interesting to see whether the mega-corporation is able to nab some of that business in an over-saturated market like Manhattan. Either way, you'll have plenty of options to ensure that you won't be lugging your booze through the street and up any stairs this year.
