Our week of free is here! Each day, we're keeping you in the loop about the best free events in NYC and giving you exclusive offers at some of our favorite spots around the city. On Wednesday, we're throwing a free party for our readers and giving out copies of our upcoming issue—for free.

But just in case we haven't convinced you that enjoying this city can come at zero cost, we're letting notable New Yorkers tell you about their favorite free things to do each day. First up: actress Allison Williams, who stars as Marnie Michaels in HBO's Girls and is currently rehearsing to play Peter Pan in NBC's upcoming telecast of Peter Pan Live!. We asked her about her top freebie.

What’s your favorite free thing in New York City?
Ah, great question. Sheep Meadow in Central Park.

How come?
I love going there, it’s so beautiful. And [the] people watching is superb.

It's hard to argue with her: Sheep Meadow is Central Park's Quiet Zone—which means no dogs, no bikes, no organized sports, and no loud music—leaving you to free to relax away from the city's hustle and bustle. The lawn was originally the home to a flock of sheep from 1864 until 1934. In the '60s and '70s, it hosted concerts, screened the televised moon landing and was the site of anti-war demonstrations. It was restored to its current green loveliness in the '80s. And, of course, it's free. #BeFreeNYC
