We cautiously but optimistically bring you some great news from the MTA—the 7 train extension now has an official opening date! The Hudson Yards Station near 34th St and 11th Ave will open by September 13, only a couple years past the original opening date! Better late than never, we imagine Bloomberg said during his inaugural ride almost two years ago.
The MTA announced the opening date at a Monday night committee meeting, DNAinfo reports, and if you feel like watching this 95-minute video from the meeting, be our guest.
The Hudson Yards development will continue on, of course, eventually adding seven residential and commercial towers over the tracks (check out pictures here). Maybe, just maybe, this will be the magical new unicorn train with no delays that runs like it's gliding on tracks of solid gold, but we sure doubt it. Happy commuting!
