Real estate prices in your neighborhood have probably gone up over the last decade, but if you’re curious how your ‘hood compares to others in the city check out the map below. Created by PropertyShark.com, the depressing infographic shows the amount that the median sale price/sqft has changed from 2004 to 2014.

Meanwhile, the front-runners for most soul-crushing images of the year are definitely the maps of Manhattan and Brooklyn below. They show exactly where you should have bought property in 2004 if you had just stopped listening to Jessica Simpson on your third generation iPod for a second and gotten your act together. In Manhattan, the neighborhoods that saw the biggest changes were Central and East Harlem. In Brooklyn, home prices increased by a mind-blowing 269% in Williamsburg.
