Friends, city folk, lend me your ears. A rare copy of Shakespeare's Second Folio from 1632 that belonged to Edwin Booth (brother of presidential assassin John Wilkes Booth) will be on display this week, and you can feast your eyes upon its ancient pages.

The book is up for auction at Sotheby's and is estimated to sell for $300,000-$500,000, so unless you're a Bloomberg you should probably sneak a peek while you can. The Sotheby's office is open to the public at 1334 York Avenue from June 13-18, 10am–5pm.

The book itself is a draw, but it also has a fascinating history. Its owner, Edwin Booth, owned his own theater in New York City and performed in many Shakespeare plays as Othello, Iago, Brutus and Hamlet and was a popular theater figure at the time. His brother John Wilkes, of course, would go down in history for assassinating President Abraham Lincoln during a play in 1865. The book holds Edwin's own signature. Stand before it and feel the power of history.
