It’s that time of year again—NYC's top potato pushers will vie for the best-in-latke honor at this sixth annual spud-centric throwdown, held on Monday, Dec 15 from 7:30–10pm at the Metropolitan Pavilion.

Among the creative cakes you’ll find Veselka’s pork-goulash latke with prunes and red beans, a beef short rib chorizo version smothered in chipotle crema from Toloache, and a smoky poblano latke with 16-hour Texas smoked brisket from Tres Carnes.

Other competitors include Egg Shop, Mae Mae Café, BAMcafe and Karloff. Wash down your tastings with suds from Shmaltz Brewing (try their Jewbelation brew), pour overs from Brooklyn Roasting Company and Sovereign ciders—all for a mere 60 bucks.

Once you’re latked out, vote for your favorite and watch chefs collect the People’s Choice for Best Latke, and Judge’s Choice—the panel of which includes the Food Network’s Karen Grinthal, New York City Wine & Food Festival founder Lee Schrager and Saveur editor-in-chief Adam Sachs. All proceeds from the event will be donated to The Sylvia Center, an organization dedicated to getting kids eating well and staying active.
