Everyone likes going to the movies. Going to the gym, though? Not so much. But that might be about to change thanks to NYC’s newest high-tech workout.

IMAXShift, a first-of-its-kind cycling studio, combines intense workouts designed by industry-leading instructors Jesse Alexander and Bree Branker with immersive IMAX technology.

Riders will be able to workout in front of a giant 40-by-24 foot curved IMAX screen projecting hyper-real imagery with crystal-clear sound. Basically, the experience will be similar to what you’d expect at an IMAX film. During a class, cyclers could feel like they’re biking through space or pedaling along a sunny beach. (That might actually be enough to get us to the gym in the middle of February.)

The studio, which can accommodate up to 50 riders, will start offering classes to the public on May 5 ranging from beginners to advanced. The classes will be 45 minutes long, with 55 happening every week. If the Brooklyn location is successful, the company plans on expanding to other cities.
