This massive subway expansion would completely transform NYC

When a single new subway station is delayed for several years, and an entirely new line is delayed for several lifetimes, it may seem like a pretty pointless exercise to imagine a New York City subway system with multiple, life-changing additions.

But hey, life is full of surprises. And President Trump is going to need some major construction project to focus on after building that wall. Most likely, another wall. But if not, may we suggest this imaginary subway system that would actually meet the needs of a major 21st century city?

Cartographer Andrew Lynch has created a map that shows the platonic ideal of the NYC subway. Some of his improvements include such luxurious changes as a train connection to the airport: 

An additional tunnel under the East River:

And a new 10th Avenue line on the west side of Manhattan:
