In any metropolis full of striving immigrants, the word hunger refers to ambition as often as it does to food; but the connotations collide in every piece of meat served from a street cart. With their new title, New York à la Cart, bloggers and street-food aficionados Alexandra Penfold and Siobhan Wallace share the stories of many of the city’s popular food trucks and carts. Here’s a quick guide to just a few of the tales and recipes that Penfold and Wallace highlight from throughout the five boroughs.

New York à la Cart authors Alexandra Penfold and Siobhan Wallace read at the powerHouse Arena Tue 16, and appear with vendors in the Downtown Literary Festival Sun 14.
