Alexie cemented his reputation long ago with prose collections including The Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in Heaven and young-adult novel The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian, and his last, cage-rattling book of stories (War Dances) won him the PEN/Faulkner Award. He's increasingly extending beyond his Native American heritage toward broader human themes, and this fall’s anthology of old and new tales (Blasphemy) should display a range of passions.
