Festival of New Trumpet Music 2013

Critics' pick
The festival fondly known as FONT blazes into action with "Music for Small, Medium and Massive: Premieres, Fanfares and Remembrance." The Sept 10 bill includes a clutch of new and recent pieces by Christian Wolff, plus a newly commissioned work by ecstatic-jazz stalwart Roy Campbell Jr. On Sept 11, John Zorn's Antiphonal Fanfare for the Great Hall pays homage to the late, great cornetist and conceptualist Lawrence D. "Butch" Morris, on a program that also includes a Morris-style conduction (conducted improvisation) and the New York premiere of Henry Brant's Flight Over a Global Map, for 52 trumpets.
