So, what are you up to on the Independence Day? Checking out the fireworks? Come on—they’re pretty much the same flash-boom-flash-boom every year. Chowing down at a barbecue? Think about your cholesterol! Going to a roof party? Actually, that sounds pretty good. But may we suggest you drop whatever plans you have and head to Brooklyn’s Dekalb Market? That’s where François K and his Deep Space crew will be setting up shop for Deep Space: Mission #1. The brilliant DJ-producer, one of NYC clubdom’s true treasures, will be joined by the musical polymath King Britt, the innovative deep-bass artist FaltyDL, dub poet Infinity and Nublu sax man Ilhan Ersahin. If you’re on the fence, a listen to these mixes—a beautiful, dulcet set from King Britt and a somewhat more banging (though no less lovely) one from Mr. K himself—will go far to convince you.
