Cavalcade

If you’ve never heard of this decades-spanning, upstairs-downstairs melodrama, you may be surprised to hear that it won the Best Picture Oscar. Seen from today’s perspective, it’s a tad stage-bound (it’s based on a hit Noël Coward play), but its gently nostalgic air is nigh well irresistible.
