Contempt

Godard’s tale of marital discord is also his most accessible film; one can only imagine how amazing it might have been had an actress, rather than Brigitte Bardot, played the part of the sullen wife. Still, in a way, she’s perfect: a fickle, blond embodiment of the titular emotion.
