Mon Jan 14 2013
La. Venue 608 W 28th St between Eleventh and Twelfth Aves (212-695-8090). This porkageddon is back in the Big Apple for its fourth annual throwdown of Wet-Nap-necessary barbecue, bluegrass and booze. The fest is broken down into three sessions. The Bacon Bash Tasting features more than ten pork-belly sampling stations, including dishes from Dinosaur Bar-B-Que, Hill Country Barbecue and Brother Jimmy’s. You can continue the porkout at the Whole Hog Pig Pickin’, with four whole oinkers served pulled off the bone. For serious bourbon sippers, there’s the Grand Poobah Tasting, offering rare bourbons (Pappy Van Winkle’s 23-year, a 21-year old Willett Family Estate single-barrel), as well as bourbon-barrel-aged beers (Heavy Seas Beer, Blue Point Brewing Company). Live bluegrass sets from the Third Wheel Band and Great Dog Almighty round out the festivities.
