It's been a decade since melancholy, inspired singer-songwriter Elliott Smith died, and this week he would've turned 44 years old. Celebrations of Smith are being held across the country all week, and the lineup for tonight's tribute show looks promising indeed. Phenomenally versatile Punch Brothers mandolinist and singer Chris Thile—a musician capable of breaking your heart with a well-turned chord change or offhand observation—is sure to offer a stirring, thoughtful performance, and the bill also features Rhett Miller—the blue-eyed crooner from Old 97s—and singer-songwriter/Nirvana associate Mary Lou Lord. Proceeds from the show will benefit New Alternatives for LGBT Homeless Youth.
