Description
The old-world charm of well-worn communal tables, dangling copper cookware and flickering lamps may help explain why a ten-year-old restaurant is still tough to get into on a Saturday night. Seasonal produce shapes the menu of chef Ignacio Mattos. Dunk the warm country bread in Umbrian olive oils produced exclusively for il Buco. Primi include wood-grilled, balsamic-glazed quail over organic beans, and a thin-crust pizza with fresh porcini, shallots and aged Asturian goat cheese. Roasted suckling pig snuggled into soft polenta gets a kick from wild fennel and sautéed chicory. You'll have no trouble finding a wine to match; Il Buco’s list is one of the city’s best.
