Time Out says

Though it's not quite a Cuban cultural center, the bi-level spaces that houses rum-punch bar Cienfuegos, Cuban sandwich joint Carteles, and now this restaurant and lounge certainly comes close. El Cobre, named for a copper-mining town in Cuba and outfitted with whirring wooden fans and an eight-foot fountain, focuses on rum cocktails from mixologists Jane Danger and Mayur Subbarao. Among their creations are the Brooklynite (rum, honey, bitters) and the Mind If I Do Julep (rum, bourbon, cane sugar, mint, apple brandy), along with classic swizzles. Mitagating the effects of all that booze is a full-service menu of plates like ropa vieja, habanero-and-guava-glazed pork ribs, and octopus ceviche with hearts of palm and grape tomatoes.
