In a narrow dining room adorned with hand-painted murals of pagodas, Cafe Mingala adeptly serves sumptuous portions of Burmese food, which is influenced by Indian, Chinese and Thai cuisine. Golden fried triangles of delicate pastry filled with curried potatoes make great starters, as does the mango salad, with fresh and pickled slivers of the fruit. Chewy, oversize dumplings, called phet-htoke, burst with pork and shrimp in a basil sauce, while crispy thousand-layer bread steeped in sweet coconut milk makes a compelling dessert.
