What can I say, this is one of the best restaurants in manhattan. Started with a crb cake that was all crab, no breaded cake. What followed was the Villard burger, an all beef creation with no flourishes but cheese and a crispy potato slice. I defy you to stop eating once you begin. It is the most flavorful burger I have tried this year. To top it off, the champagne list is extraordinary. 1951 half bottle Krug had to be endulged. The entrance is adorned with row upon row of 2002 Dom Perignon. It is worth the trip. Chef Michel Richard signed a copy of his book which I bought while a student at Georgetown, where celebrations were enjoyed at his flagship. His energy was evident. The interior is ornate, marble from the gilded age throughout. However it is the food that keeps your attention. It is concise, coherent, and correct in what it is trying to present french cooking as to the food capital of the world.
