This Chinese chainlet highlights the mouth-tingling cuisine of Xi'an, an ancient capital along China's Silk Road. The fifth location offers the same short menu of spicy noodles and cumin-spiced burgers in roomier digs. Unlike its sparely appointed siblings, a mix of antique touches (porcelain figurines from the Ming dynasty) and modern effects (framed photos of frequent customer Anthony Bourdain) decorates the 40-seat restaurant.

This place often pops up on 'Best of' lists for New York, and for good reason. Although it looks like nothing, the food is insanely delicious, and insanely cheap. It's satisfying for lunch, dinner, hungover, drunk or sober (ESPECIALLY good hungover). I always get the Lamb noodles and never leave anything behind. Go now!

I love Xi'an for their cheap and hearty meals, especially if you're on the go or if you're finishing up after a night out. I was never a big fan of lamb until I started eating the meals they have here! Bring cash since it is cash only and be prepared to sit next to a stranger since seating is quite limited. It's quite the experience!
