There’s no clutter of exotic Arabian Nights paraphernalia dressing up this Moroccan spot, which is kept neat and simple, with maroon walls and rich leather seating lending a homey warmth. The food is elegant and meticulously plated, several levels above the usual fare served up at couscous joints. The meze plate appetizer is a perfect sampler, including hummus, baba ghanoush and matbucha, a spicy chopped salad of peppers and tomatoes. The classic lamb or chicken tagines are delectably sweet and savory, stewed with vegetables and dried fruit, while tagines of short ribs and duck confit add a fusion touch. Desserts like fig ice cream and blueberry-pomegranate sorbet play nicely on native Moroccan ingredients without descending to the ordinary.
