After opening Astoria’s Thai New York Spa & Salon in 2010, sisters Kan and Pat Prasertsri have expanded their business to include this 2,500-square-foot oasis. Housed on the fourth floor of a posh midtown office building, Fifth Avenue Thai Spa offers a wide range of services, including acupuncture ($150–$300), body scrubs ($129–$199), facials ($79–$139), massages ($119–$529), nail care ($25–$100) and waxing ($20–$300). The elevators open to reveal dark hardwood floors, walls hand-painted with floral accents and four treatment rooms. While sea-salt body scrubs ($129–$189), multivitamin peel facials ($139) and classic manicures ($25) are menu highlights, traditional Thai rubdowns ($129–$189) are the main draw. Performed by the Prasertsri sisters, the ancient technique combines stretching and kneading aimed at ridding muscle tension and reducing stress.
