As evidenced by Opening Ceremony and Project No. 8 in the Ace Hotel and the Standard’s high-concept gift shop, it’s now par for the course to have a chic store attached to any luxury boutique hotel in this town. Following this retail trend is the newly-opened Gramercy locale of the Gansevoort Hotel, which tapped preppy brand Lacoste for its tiny destination gift shop. Glossy satin-trimmed walls and crocodile-printed columns frame logo polos created especially for the Gansevoort shop, like a Peanuts-cartoon-emblazoned style for kids ($110) and a version based on Chinese artist Li Xiaofeng’s sculptures made from antique porcelain shards ($165). You’ll also find the little green croc marking plush bathrobes ($95) to wear while lounging in your room.
