Phyto Universe (CLOSED)

More of a hair spa than a beauty parlor, Phyto Universe, the Parisian hair-care company’s templelike flagship salon and training center, doesn’t offer cuts or color. Instead, the focus is on scalp and hair therapies to remedy dandruff, dry strands, thinning manes and overly kinky locks ($150–$320), among other tress ailments. Outside of the nine private treatment cabins, be sure to take a moment to gawk at the stunning 3,000-square-foot vertical hydroponic garden, which is filled with the tropical plants used to produce the botanicals for the luxe product line.
