This is actually the venue name for the Soho Rep (when the plays are rentals, the venue is called Walkerspace). Just south of Canal Street, this little 74-seat theater with its steep rows of comfortable benches is one of those rare things: a well-designed small space. Even underdesigned work tends to look good in its snug environs, and yet there is ample room for blockbuster sets (like the massive, splitting hotel room from Sarah Kane’s Blasted) in case you like your theater spectacular.
Venue name: Walkerspace
Address: 46 Walker St
New York

Cross street: between Broadway and Church St
Transport: Subway: A, C, E to Canal St; 1 to Franklin St

We saw the play "Near Vicksburg" written and directed by Sara Farington during its workshop production in a Brooklyn warehouse. It was an unforgettable evening in every way. A Southern woman, her young daughter and her husband's slave hide in a tiny cave in Vicksburgh, Miss.,during the citie's 47 day Civil War siege in1863. In there, they create their own rules, boundaries, war and reality. The characters were so real to the period and yet so universal that it could have taken place in any slice of time. A bargain price too, as tickets are only $15. Don't miss it.
