New York City is a tough place to find an apartment, as we all know. Everyone panics that they aren’t getting enough for their money, which is why we’re taking a weekly look at what you can get in this town for around $1,000 per person (and we promise there’ll be no nightmare apartment listing). No one wants to end up in the world’s most depressing apartment (and equally, not everyone has the cash to get the kind of place Obama could afford to rent if he moves to New York), so take a look at these attractive, spacious places—but do it quickly, because these will be gone before you know it. Come back next week for more of our top picks from real-estate site Zumper’s inventory. And if you’re still struggling, try our NYC apartments guide.

This North Brooklyn abode is looking pretty #fresh, with its minimalist white cabinets, newly finished hardwood floors and boatloads of natural light. It also boasts two bathrooms, an in-unit washer and dryer, a dishwasher, and—wait for it—central AC. Take that, heat wave.

Three-bedroom in Gramercy, $3,500/month ($1,167 per person)

Say what you will about Stuy Town, it’s hard to get more bang for your buck in downtown Manhattan. First off, all utilities are included (yes, that means you can blast the heat or the AC to your heart’s content), plus the place is equipped with a dishwasher and a whopping eight closets. Oh, and did we mention it’s rent-stabilized?

As far as uptown locations go, this one’s tough to beat: It’s a mere two blocks from Central Park and the Met. Think of all the picnics and/or art you’ll get to enjoy! It’s also not too shabby on the inside, with what appears to be a spacious layout, plenty of sunlight and gleaming hardwood floors.

Four-bedroom in West Harlem, $3,900/month ($975 per person)

Post up in the so-hot-right-now enclave of Hamilton Heights—named for onetime resident Alexander Hamilton—at this recently renovated flat in an elevator building. It’s decked out in new hardwood floors and high ceilings, plus it’s just a short walk to Riverbank State Park.
