New York City is a tough place to find an apartment, as we all know. Everyone panics that they aren’t getting enough for their money, which is why we’re taking a weekly look at what you can get in this town for around $1,000 per person (and we promise there’ll be no nightmare apartment listing). No one wants to end up in the world’s most depressing apartment (and equally, not everyone has the cash to get the kind of place Obama could afford to rent if he moves to New York), so take a look at these attractive, spacious places—but do it quickly, because these will be gone before you know it. Come back next week for more of our top picks from real-estate site Zumper’s inventory.

And if you’re still struggling, try our NYC apartments guide.

2nd Ave and East 19th St

Two-bedroom in Gramercy Park, $2,700/month ($1,350 per person)

This Gramercy Park apartment has got light for days with windows in pretty much every room and “fantastic sun exposure,” as the listing puts it. You could definitely feel comfortable exposing yourself in the unit’s large common area or two full bedrooms. The kitchen may be a bit on the smaller side for any amateur chefs out there, but at least with your own dishwasher, you wouldn’t have to spend too much time doing the dishes in it. Just put in a load, then get back to the living room, and soak up those rays.

453 State St

Two-bedroom in Boerum Hill, $2,400/month ($1,200 per person)

Nothing raises a red flag in an real estate listing like the word “cozy” (except maybe “seeks arrangement”), and this two-bedroom apartment does indeed appear to be on the narrow side. But aside from getting the feeling you might be living in the trash compactor from Star Wars, this unit’s a great price for the area and just blocks from Atlantic Terminal and Barclays Center. It looks like one of the bedrooms doesn’t have any windows, but hey, if you really liked 50 Shades of Grey, that could be a plus! Get creative! If things get too claustrophobic, you can do your best Victorian-war-widow impression by sitting at that bay window all day.

Three-bedroom in Downtown Brooklyn, $3,300/month ($1,100 per person)

Congratulations, your dream of moving to New York to become Felicity has finally come true. You could live like the star of your own mid-'90s WB sitcom in this industrial three-bedroom with mountains of exposed brick. On top of the apartment’s urban chic feel, it also offers access to a shared backyard and garden (totally the perfect place to get Ben to fall back in love with you) and a washer and dryer in the unit. Not to mention, it’s located at the foot of the Brooklyn Bridge, so all of your first dates would be basically planned.

Alexander Ave and 139th St

Three-bedroom in East Harlem, $2,500/month ($833 per person)

This may not be the snazziest listing this week, but for living in Manhattan at under $900, we’ll take it. In addition to the low price, this duplex apartment features a private outdoor space and a whopping two bathrooms! You’d basically be living in a Spa Castle with his and hers sinks. Worried about being too far uptown? The building’s located just around the corner from the 4/5/6 stop at 125th Street, which will shoot you downtown any night you don’t feel like getting your "Uptown Funk" on.

Three-bedroom in the East Village, $3,895/month ($1,298 per person)

Two words: breakfast nook. You could have that, and more, at this recently renovated East Village stunner. All three bedrooms have windows and closet space, so there will be no need to fight over which one of you gets the best room. (Space at the breakfast nook is another matter.) On top of that, you’ll be able to toast to your harmonious living situation over your gourmet kitchen’s granite countertops. This one’s for you, stainless steel appliances!
