New York City is a tough place to find an apartment, as we all know. Everyone panics that they aren’t getting enough for their money, which is why we’re taking a weekly look at what you can get in this town for around $1,000 per person (and we promise there’ll be no nightmare apartment listing). No one wants to end up in the world’s most depressing apartment (and equally, not everyone has the cash to get the kind of place Obama could afford to rent if he moves to New York), so take a look at these attractive, spacious places—but do it quickly, because these will be gone before you know it. Come back next week for more of our top picks from real-estate site Zumper’s inventory.

And if you’re still struggling, try our NYC apartments guide.

656 Hancock St #9

Two-bedroom in Bed-Stuy, $2,300/month ($1,150 per person)

Okay, while it's definitely possible to find cheaper places in Bed-Stuy, how many of them are going to have skylights, exposed brick and adorable arched windows? Not to mention the place is renovated with a sleek new kitchen featuring a dishwasher and breakfast bar (just begging for leisurely mornings over coffee and the crossword), and an equally impressive bathroom, if your version of "me time" includes a deep-soak tub.

1209 Dekalb Ave #217

Three-bedroom in Bushwick, $3,235/month ($1,078 per person)

The 'wick is looking pretty swanky these days, with decked out digs like this. Inside the apartment you'll find a chef-grade kitchen, two glass-tiled bathrooms and hardwood floors, while the building boasts a fitness center, pool table, screening room and roof deck complete with furniture for lounging and barbecues for grilling. Fourth of July? Check.

E 100th St #1C

Four-bedroom in East Harlem, $4,395/month ($1,099 per person)

Among the amenities at this uptown pad, you'll find a dishwasher, an in-unit washer and dryer, a patio and a wine cooler. A WINE COOLER, you guys. Built in. To the place where you live. For wine. Whenever you want it. (Oh, and all that other stuff sounds pretty sweet, too.) On top of that it's got two bathrooms and no broker fee. But really, you had us at wine cooler.

Green St #3

Four-bedroom in Greenpoint, $3,500/month ($875 per person)

In case you didn't catch that, this find is under $900 a pop in the heart of a prime neighborhood, if you believe the kids these days. And it's not even far from the subway! (Just two blocks from the Greenpoint Ave G stop.)  Sure, you'll have to share a bathroom with three other people, but at this price you can afford to join a fancy gym and shower there.

Court St & President St

Three-bedroom in Carroll Gardens, $3,600/month ($1,200 per person)

We'd be tempted to lie in bed all day just to gaze at the beautiful patterned tin ceilings in this charming railroad flat. Though the decorative moldings and sun-dappled hardwood floors ain't too bad either. If you know the neighborhood, you know that this is a killer location, with enough awesome restaurants in a five-block radius to justify never using your kitchen (though there is a dishwasher, should you change your mind).
