Incredibly, a purely local, old-time Czech pub is still standing just downhill from the castle, complete with fried cheese, dark wood interiors and grumpy waiters. Like something out of Jan Neruda's Prague Tales, this former hall of barons and landlords has thrived in Malá Strana since the 19th century and has made only grudging nods to the present day, with designer lamps illuminating its heavy, communal tables. Behind a series of archways, the pub is split into a small beerhall frequented by hardcore pivo drinkers, and a music hall downstairs.
