It may not be in the thick of things - it's in a quiet residential area - but the Sant'Anselmo, lavishly restored in 2005, is dazzling. Themes can be dodgy territory, but the Sant'Anselmo gets it just right: rooms are imaginatively decorated with playful touches. One features famous quotes scribbled over the walls; another, on two levels, boasts its own mosaic-tiled nymphaeum; another is dominated by a vast, sumptuous four-poster bed as well as a free-standing bath. The common areas have also been treated to the full works, with parquet floors and grey walls, enlivened by trendy chandeliers, sleek sofas and floor-sweeping curtains.
