Hotel Monaco & Grand Canal review Rate it
This Grand Canal classic is a curious hybrid. The lobby and bar area is a fussy mix of classic and modern, the rooms in the main building are untouched by the design revolution, while those on the Grand Canal are ultra-traditional Venetian. More charmant is the Palazzo Selvadego residence: no lagoon views, but its rooms are done out in a modern Mediterranean style. Even if you are not staying here, pop in for a look at the extraordinary Teatro Ridotto, a 17th-century jewel that was Venice's first gambling hall.
