Austin may be crawling with Mexican eateries, but there's always room for one more—especially when it's Suerte, 2018's highly anticipated restaurant from Odd Duck partner Sam Hellman-Mass and executive chef Fermin Nunez. Opening today, the restaurant focuses on masa dishes made with local heirloom corn.

Suerte, which is located at the corner of Sixth and Chicon Streets, is a visually stunning addition to the neighborhood, decked out with a mescal bottle chandelier, Oaxacan textiles and wallpaper that you can't help but Instagram on sight (even the front door to the restaurant is a thing of beauty).

The menu is broken down by Snackcidents (bean taquitos, fontina molotes), Frio & Raw (ceviche, aguachile), Vitamina T (chicken tamal, beef tostada), vegetables and specialties, which include goat rib barbacoa, carne asada, fish a la devil and more. The modern Mexican slant extends to the dessert menu too, where chocolate tamal, flan with sesame seeds and Mexican spiced hot chocolate with churros lends a sweet ending to the meal.

Of course, there are plenty of cocktail options to choose from, with the dominant spirits being mescal, tequila and sotol. Pooka is a refreshing blend of mescal, grapefruit, lime, ginger honey and soda, while the Mexican Daisy features silver tequila, lime, tamarind honey and orange bitters. Beers, wine and seasonal agua frescas are also available.

Suerte officially opens today at 5pm, and will keep the following opening hours: Sunday through Wednesday from 5 to 10pm; and Thursday through Saturday from 5 to 11pm.
