Deep breaths. We've got one more day before SXSW madness fully sets in, so let's enjoy it while we can, shall we?

It's picnic season already, but we're not complaining. Sample some rosés before you decide what to pack in your basket: Local winemaker Rae Wilson is handing out complimentary Dandy Rosé samples at the UMLAUF Sculpture Garden with glasses and bottles to purchase, plus Garbo's Lobster Truck will be on site to sate your non-alcoholic appetite needs.

Head to the George Washington Carver Museum for the opening of Punk Noir, an exhibit by Dawn Okoro that explore Afro-punk expression. The exhibit is free and starts at 7pm.

OK, so SXSW is creeping in a little early: It’s safe to say that the seven-year anniversary party for Hotel Vegas and neighboring Volstead, held all day and night across the two venues on March 8, is pretty much the opening ceremony. Featuring 77 bands, DJs and comedians (all the legit locals, including headliners Sweet Spirit, Sailor Poon, Borzoi and Moving Panoramas) across seven stages, it's a perfect way to set the bar for another gloriously sleep-deprived SX. Free, starts at 1:30pm.
