The three things you need to know today in Austin: Wed, Apr 18

While last night was the official pre-party, Fusebox Festival officially kicks off today for five days of creative mayhem. The annual citywide festival allows artists to exhibit their talent through installations, performances, conversations, meals; tonight, catch Boner Killer at the Hub at 8pm, or Kate McIntosh's In Many Hands at the Long Center. Find a full schedule here.

Another fest kicking off today? The Moontower Comedy Festival, a four-day comedy bonanza. Laugh out loud while the country’s best comedians—Tiffany Haddish, Tig Notaro, Mike Birbiglia and others—bring their best jokes to Austin. The Paramount Theatre serves as Moontower’s home base, but you can catch stand-up, sketch and improv at venues across the city, where locals such as Matt Bearden, Chris Cubas and Avery Moore will have you laugh until you cry.

The Foo Fighters arrive in Austin tonight for a massive show at Austin360 Amphitheater on the heels of 9th full-length release, Concrete and Gold, which resounds like an ode to their classic rock forbears (especially Pink Floyd). If you’re not so into the new material, rest assured: it’s rare they play less than three hours at any given gig, so you’ll hear all your old-school favorites and then some.
