In the town of Les Masies de Voltregà you’ll make your first stop on a very packed day in the Osona region with Nordic walking, visits to museums, lunch by a sanctuary, or a tour to a company town. So let’s get on with it!

IN COLLABORATION WITH BARCELONA ÉS MOLT MÉS AND THE DIPUTACIÓ DE BARCELONA.

Two museums in one morning

Two museums in one morning

The journey starts at the Colònia Lacambra, in the municipal district of Les Masies de Voltregà. There you’ll discover the Copper Museum. It’s on the premises of La Farga, a modernista building from the early 20th century. It’s a cultural centre that illustrates, using different resources, La Farga’s knowledge, use and application of copper throughout history at an industrial, economic and environmental level. After the visit, you’ll head to Manlleu to discover the Museu del Ter. It opened 15 years ago with the objective of highlighting both the cultural heritage linked to the history of industrialisation and the natural heritage of the Ter River. One of the most emblematic elements preserved is a turbine from 1860 and that today can still be operated and, like a century and half ago, activate the system of drive shafts and set the spinning machines in motion.

To end the morning, you can visit the premises of the Companyia cervesera del Montseny. You can try its craft and natural beers after you’ve toured the factory and learnt how the drink is made. Their headquarters are in Sant Miquel de Balenyà, in the municipal district of Seva.

Lunchtime is approaching and you can enjoy it in a very special place, with unique panoramic views: the sanctuary of Bellmunt, located on the mountain range of the same name and at a height of 1,246 m. You’ll find a restaurant right there.

Nordic walking for beginners

Nordic walking for beginners

What about walking for a while? Contact the company Aquaterraclub where they’ll tell you what Nordic walking is all about, lend you the necessary material ‒ basically two sticks ‒ and guide you on the paths you’ll follow. You’ll do an easy route, of around 3 km, by the Ter River bank and pass through industrial canals and riverside woods until reaching the company town where your next visit will take place.

The maiden welcomes us

The maiden welcomes us

You’re in the Colònia Remisa or Colònia Rusiñol, on the outskirts of Manlleu. It dates back to 1866, but we have travelled, as if by magic, to 1900. On a dramatised visit, a maiden will welcome you as new workers in the factory and explain the history of the Rusiñol family, owners of the place. She will lead you through the different parts of this company town by the Ter River.

As it’s now late, you can stay in the region. Book a room in Mas Boix Seva, which offers independent rural accommodation in a country house dating back to 1739 and where you’ll sleep like babies.
