Deerhoof

Like Hello Kitty with piranha teeth, Deerhoof come on charming and spiky at the same time. Their wildly eclectic albums veer from funky West Coast punk to cerebral noise-pop, and their shows chuck leftfield humour and surreal onstage stunts into the mix. Given their Bowie-like tendency to reinvention, the band can be hard to pin down – but fun is always part of the equation.
