This exhibition, “Life is the Heart of a Rainbow” is a focused survey of Kusama's vast body of work since the 1950s. It’s the perfect summer outing for both entry-level art enthusiasts and hardcore Kusama fans. It includes early painterly experiments, a multi-decade presentation of her celebrated 'net' paintings, performance, soft-sculpture, assemblage, and large-scale installations of her later career.
There’s a kids program and everyone’s favourite – “The Obliteration Room” – where you get to put colourful spot stickers on pristine white walls and furniture. Kusama’s practice holds appeal across generations – everyone from eight to 80 will get something out of this exhibition. Expect to see lots and lots of spots.
