Up near Suncorp Stadium in an area heavily populated with backpacker beds, the Flamin' Galah is doing its bit to keep the candle of local culture and creativity burning. The former Beetle Bar is now a seven-day live music venue with a bar and a kitchen serving burgers and wings.
This place is serious about nurturing homegrown talent, to the extent that up-and-coming bands can book the stage for their rehearsals six days a week, so long as they don't mind an audience of daytime drinkers.
Among the schedule of punk rock, metal, folk and indie you'll find events like Monday Bad Karaoke (exactly what it says on the tin) and Big Ol' Burger Parties.
