Time Out says

Your choice if you need to be in the heart of the city, Ibis Styles Brisbane Elizabeth Street opened early 2016 as part of an ongoing overhaul of the brand on local shores. Hence this deceptively large 386-room property’s tendency to overflow with eye-popping colours and busy graphics, all the better to keep you buzzing after you’ve slotted your life away at the casino opposite.

The rooms themselves are a little more low-key, but with impressive floor to ceiling views of the city and the river from the higher digs, they didn’t need much. Monday through to Friday tends to buzz with business travellers but don’t ignore the weekends — you’re a short block away from Queen Street Mall, the river and South Brisbane beyond. Nightlife in the city tends to roll on through the weekends but beware: the CBD’s most prominent cafes and coffee spots — and they’re some of the best in Brisbane — go MIA on Saturdays and Sundays.

Time Out tip: If you’re staying on a weekday, wander across Elizabeth Street, down the lane next to Jackpot Dining and just keep on going. There, you’ll find John Mills Himself, a handsome, hidden little grotto serving some of the best coffee in town. For drinks any day but Sunday, head to Super Whatnot in Burnett Lane.
