We are all going to die at some stage, but it's a pushed-aside and abstract concept until a diagnosis or situation makes us face, in believable terms, our own imminent mortal end. It is usually terrifying.
This book identifies six fears we have at the end of our life:
Fear of pain and suffering
Fear of the loss of consciousness
Fear of having lived in vain
Fear of being forgotten
Fear of being condemned and;
Fear of leaving those you love.
More than anything this book examines how our relationship with death affects our moral code, our relationship to others and our bodies, the society we strive for, our supernatural beliefs, our worldly beliefs and our ability to risk, relax, trust, divulge and love.
