Since Byron Short & The Sunset Junkies rose from the ashes of youth in mid 2015, the band have come leaps and bounds, staking their claim as one of the most exciting and hardworking rock outfits in the country. 2016 saw the release of their watermark blues rock album, Revelations, followed by an extensive East Coast tour, taking in 10 dates from Mackay to Byron Bay and culminating in an unforgettable performance at a very soggy Mitchell Creek Rock & Blues Festival.

Byron Short & The Sunset Junkies are proud to launch the next single lifted from Revelations – ‘Young Man’s Dream’ and its accompanying video by creative art director Daryl Irvine at Black Bear Lodge on Friday, February 24th from 8pm. Director, actors and crew disappeared into the wilderness for two days mid-December 2016 and emerged with a gorgeous and horrifying paean to innocence lost, sin, guilt and redemption. Part sensual art piece, part nature film, the ‘Young Man’s Dream’ video is a visually stunning work with a killer soundtrack.

Lending her gorgeous voice to ‘Young Man’s Dream’ as well as co-starring in the clip with Byron is award-winning Brisbane pop songstress Francesca de Valence who is also launching her new single ‘Yellow’ on the night. Lifted from her dazzling album, Own Self, ‘Yellow’ is an upbeat and catchy-as-hell summer hit about the sunny side of love. After being included in the voting pool for 2016’s ARIA awards and attending the ceremony in absolute style, Francesca’s star is ever-rising and she is anticipating a huge 2017 overseeing the growth of her I Heart Songwriting Club and planning a new full length release. Francesca is the light to Byron Short & The Sunset Junkies’ darkness and her performance will provide the perfect counterpoint to the boys’ hard-hitting, rock ’n’ roll stylings.

Rounding out the line-up is Boatkeeper, one of Brisbane’s rising stars with a bullet. 2016 saw the release of his debut EP Windward that was warmly embraced by Spotify listeners, the lead single ‘So Go’ having received almost a quarter of a million spins to date. Boatkeeper effortlessly blends folk, roots and alt. country into a style uniquely his and delivered in his gorgeous, smooth and laid back vocal style. But don’t let him lull you into a false sense of security – the man can be as cool as the summer breeze in one breath and as wild as the winter wind in the next. His solo set will be the perfect opening to an unforgettable night.

And did we mention it’s a double birthday celebration as well as a double single launch?! Byron will turn 30 (!) and Boyd (Boatkeeper) will bring up his 27th within days of the event. They don’t want gifts, only the pleasure of your company. Don’t miss this incredible night on music featuring three diverse and wonderful acts. Tickets available through OzTix for $15 (+BF) or on the night for $20.
