INSPIRE FESTIVAL

We all want to live more inspired, meaningful lives, to look with new light, to cultivate our creativity. Igniting conversation and imagination, Inspire Festival is designed to evoke inspired thought and positive action in your own life, and in the lives of those around you.

Inspire TALK
10am - 11.30am
Speakers: Robin Bailey, Trent Dalton and Stan Grant*
Host: Kelly Higgins-Devine

In this age of social media, texting and tweets, is the art of the truly inspiring conversation being lost? Three conversational maestros who have established careers curating intimate portraits of the stories of others share their deep insights into the art of conversation and how it creates human connection.

Inspire DEMOCRACY
12.30pm - 2pm
Speakers: Mark Bahnisch, Dr Lorann Downer, Jan Owen AM & Eyal Halamish
Host: Erik Jensen

It’s an election year. Once again we will go to the polls and exercise our democratic right to choose who leads our country. What does democracy mean in modern Australia? Do we vote with our heads or our hearts? What do we need to consider when we head to the polls in 2016?

Inspire DRIVE
3pm - 4.30pm
Speakers: Tim Fairfax AC, Nic Marchesi & Lucas Patchett (Orange Sky Laundry), Catherine McGregor AM and Michael Ross
Host: Robert Hoge

The speakers in this session were all awarded Australian / Queenslander of the Year in 2016. What drives them to follow their dreams, and what inspires them to give so openly to their area of focus? Presented by McCullough Robertson.

Inspire Festival
Presented by Brisbane Writers Festival in partnership with Brisbane Powerhouse
Sat 18 June, 10am - 4.30pm
Brisbane Powerhouse (119 Lamington St, New Farm)

*Brisbane Writers Festival and Brisbane Powerhouse wish to advise that Stan Grant will now be pre-recording his speech, which will then be screened during Inspire TALK. In a demonstration of the power of TALK, Stan will be participating in the Referendum Council that will lead a national conversation on recognising Indigenous Australians in the constitution.

Stan’s speech will then be followed by fellow speakers Trent Dalton and Robin Bailey, with the session hosted by Kelly Higgins-Devine.
