Our Nightlife Queensland says
This is our LAST CHANCE to fight for OUR night out!

As most of you know, the Labor government has introduced to parliament the following statewide proposed laws:

1. 1am Lockouts & 3am last drinks in our entertainment precincts
2. 2am last drinks everywhere else (except casinos which are completely exempt from these laws)
3. The banning of certain drinks after 12am – it looks like this will include cocktails and neat premium spirits in many venues

The parliament is planning on voting on this legislation in February 2016, for a July 1 statewide introduction.

This is our absolute last chance to fight and make our voice heard.

These laws will kill our youth culture and music industry; stop young entrepreneurs from introducing interesting products into interesting spaces; impact on our civil liberties; and destroy a night time community and product that is now renowned around Australia. The government wants to take away jobs from the very people who create, grow and support this. Ultimately, the many will be punished instead of effectively punishing the small percentage of people who engage in anti-social behaviour in our entertainment precincts.

From bar staff to entertainers to cleaners to caterers to revellers, these proposed laws are expected to cost 6,000 QUEENSLAND JOBS at a total cost of $150.6 MILLION DOLLARS to the Queensland economy.

Melbourne was able to turn out 17,000 to their rally, and as Queenslanders, we can achieve the same. We are not NSW, and we don’t need the laws. Your presence + your voice = no lockout laws

Join us at Parliament House, George Street, Brisbane on Wednesday, February 17, 2016, and fight for your freedoms and your night out.
